This document is part of, and incorporated by reference into, the Terms of Use. Marryfix does not perform criminal record checks on users (see Terms of Use §10); for this reason, we recommend taking the following precautions with people you meet online.
1. While Chatting
- Don't share personal information (your home address, workplace, financial information, passwords) right away in chat.
- Be cautious if someone tries to quickly move you off the platform (to another messaging app, a phone number); this is a common tactic in fraud and harassment cases.
- Be suspicious of anyone who asks you for money, gift cards, cryptocurrency, or an "investment" — never send money to someone you haven't met.
- Inconsistent stories, unusually fast romantic escalation, or repeatedly postponing meeting in person can be signs of fraud.
2. Before Your First Date
- Always have your first date in a public, crowded place.
- Tell a trusted friend or family member the location and time of your date; share your live location if possible.
- Arrange your own transportation; avoid getting into the other person's vehicle on first dates.
- Stay in control around alcohol and other substances; never leave your drink unattended.
3. Profile and Photos
- Checking someone's photos with a reverse image search can provide additional assurance about the authenticity of their profile.
- Be cautious if there is inconsistency between the information on a profile and what is said in chat.
4. If Something Goes Wrong
- If you feel threatened, immediately call the emergency line in your area (in Türkiye, 112).
- Don't hesitate to use the in-app block and report tools; see Community Guidelines.
- Report a suspicious or dangerous situation to us at support@marryfix.com.
5. Account Security
- Don't share your password with anyone, and don't reuse the same password on other platforms.
- Completing the identity verification (facial liveness/selfie) step offered to confirm your account truly belongs to you can help reduce the risk of fake accounts.
- If you receive a suspicious login notification, review your sessions in your account settings and change your password.
